噪音已經成為日常生活中的大敵，在人口密度愈來愈高的都市空間，各式交通工具在市區頻繁的往來穿梭，讓我們的居住環境充滿了各種吵雜的噪音；「隔音牆」也叫「防音牆」，主要是阻擋噪音的直線傳導路線， 降低噪分貝，提升居住環境的生活品質。

隔音牆的聲學原理，是要在隔音牆和受隔體之間留有空腔，或叫做緩衝層，噪音可以透過空間、距離減弱。高度與長度是關係著隔音牆的隔音效果的兩個重要關鍵；原則上，只要噪音源與受體之間的隔音牆高度達到受體的視線高，能就至少就能減少5分貝的噪音，而且隔音牆高度每增高1公尺，就能再減少1.5分貝。而長度方面，隔音牆不能只與受體等寬，必須以距離受體最近的垂直距離為基準，向左右兩邊各延伸4倍距離的長度，才能防止聲音從兩端流進受體。玻璃隔音牆具有透光及美觀等優點，更可與造型框架相搭配，為整體外觀加分。
